![]() Now that I'm pasting, I'll add that I still can't Chromecast after 20 minutes. ![]() Didn't work to open/close the app with this. Right before writing this post, the Chromecast button was just unpressable. ![]() Often it will say "Sorry a problem occurred", and I need to open/close the app a couple times before I can use it. Sorry for the blunt title but litterally 9/10 times i open the app I encounter problems. Made a post a second ago that got instantly removed (which in all honesty is fair enough given the title) but now that you're complaining I'll hijack this post to paste my vent on aswell: Or a silent scene would have a bunch of dialog at the bottom of the screen. Someone would be talking and there would be NO text. One of my earliest experiences with HBO GO/MAX was watching Suicide Squad (the first one) and being driven up the wall by the fact that captions were completely out of sync with anything going on. So when I read one thing and hear a different thing or read something that doesn't look right, it's really noticeable. Of course then when distracting words are on the screen, I read along. I can mostly hear fine, it's just I keep captions on because lots of things have shit sounds (music/bass/etc. But I then also noticed random line breaks/spacing, which pushes punctuation to the next line (a lone period ends up on a line by itself, for example), so clearly unintentional stuff is part of the captions. I don't know if the captioning is summarized (a shorter sentence displayed or words left out when people are speaking quickly) or some words are spelled differently due to how they are phonetically pronounced by the actors (they say them wrong, so you gotta read them wrong), as maybe that explains the differences in the text. than) and I believe some other stuff that was different from what was being said. Just wanted to vent about this, hopefully HBO does better in the future. The message of that scene is totally lost. From a deaf person's perspective, they would have no idea anything was happening except the camera zooming into the radio. But what pissed me off was the last scene of the first episode when the radio comes on and plays a song from the 80's indicating danger. "grim music playing" or "creature snarling" etc. Because the captions lack any kind of descriptive words. Thankfully I'm only hearing impaired, and not deaf. whenever there's text on the screen there's captions for the same text! Example: In episode 1 near the beginning when the screen has "Boston, 2023" - there's subtitles that say "Boston 2023" WHY? Nothing is being spoken! Now, this is normal if the signs are in another language, the subs translate. I've seen some poorly done subtitles, but I think The Last of Us is in the top 5 worst.Įvery single sign in the background that's visible, there's subtitles on the screen showing what the signs say. To view the spoiler, simply hover your cursor over the text.Īs someone that's hearing impaired, I rely on subtitles a lot to understand what's going on in a show or movie.
